So one of the things I scoffed at before working from home was a standing desk. I never understood them, and always thought in an office environment they were a little bit pretentious.

Funny how Karma works right?

Working from home the past few years has definitely changed my mind with standing desks being a focus of my home office when I first started my remote working journey.

My recommendation then, for a standing desk has to be the SHW Standing Desk which you can get on Amazon here.

Not only does it come with a free return but it’s also super easy to set up, which is saying a lot, as standing desks can be notoriously fiddly.

On top of this, the SHW workstation comes in a variety of finishes like a Mahogany Top or silver finish meaning you can really customize it for your own office.

Why do I recommend the SHW?

Don’t worry, I don’t expect you to buy any of my recommendations until I give you a good reason why I choose the SHW over other providers.

For me the SHW standing desk has a couple of major benefits:

The warranties

Most standing desks you buy online don’t come complete with warranties, or only have warranties that cover the desk and not the motor.

Motors on standing desks are notoriously fiddly so ensuring your cover will give you peace of mind.

The SHW standing desk not only has a warranty for the frame and tabletop but a separate warranty specifically for the motor ensuring all aspects of your desk will be covered.

Adjustable exactly for your eyeline

The SHW standing desk has multiple settings and heights that you can adjust for. One of the things I’ve made a mistake in the past is buying a standing desk only to find it still doesn’t come to eye level or I’m hunched over when using it.

Because of the electric motor that isn’t the case with the flex post meaning your desk will be personalized exactly how you need it to be. So regardless if you 4 feet 3 or 7 foot 6 the desk will be able to cover you.

A huge variety of colors and finishes.

The three desks I talked about earlier can be furnished even further to make them look just right for your office. I mean let’s face it, everyone’s home office is different so having a desk that looks out of place might look a bit off.

What’s even better is if you are using your desk not only for working but also presenting for example a YouTube channel where you review gadgets then it can be super versatile and used in multiple ways too.

Easy to fit

Now, most standing desks take a while to set up, and sometimes you have to do things like saw down the tabletop or bend things into place. What’s even worse is some standing desks don’t come with an instruction manual so your left trying to scramble around to find a way to fit a square peg into a circle hole.

The SHW standing desk comes with everything ready for you to assemble and the manual is super easy to follow. This means in minutes you will be up and running as opposed to hours.

Huge tabletop space

For anyone working from home one of the issues normal desks have ( especially standing ones) is the amount of space they have. Luckily the Flexspot has a huge tabletop space meaning you won’t; have to worry about having so much storage space.

Great build quality

Probably the biggest benefit is the build quality. The SHW standing desk has found a solid niche in the market place and they are the reason they are one of the best sellers in the office furniture industry. They know what they are doing and specialize only in this.

Massive weight limit

A major drawback some standing desks have is the lack of weight capacity. Sometimes with standing desks, it’s very much a lot of size and weight and yet the standing desks are not able to hold that much. Not the case with the SHW standing desk which is able to hold well over 100 pounds.

The obvious health benefits

Finally, the last major reason I would recommend the SHW standing desk is the health benefits associated with standing desks. Which can have a huge impact on the negative aspects associated with sitting all day.

What about budget options?

Now if the SHW standing desk breaks the bank there are two other products I would recommend. Of course, the SHW has the best build quality but if your adamant about getting a standing desk but can’t cover the price then I would recommend the following:

Calico – Simple desk that is manually adjustable which can be used in smaller spaces, the only drawback is that this has a slightly smaller-sized tabletop.

What would be a premium option?

So the SHW standing desk should be good enough for most people but if you need a huge tabletop space (maybe you have multiple people using the desk) or need a desk with over 300 pounds of weight capacity then I would recommend the Fezibo Dual Monitor standing desk.

What to look out for in a standing desk?

So now that I’ve given my recommendations, you might very well decide to go through what else you should look out for on a desk. Well, we’ve covered some of these already but to summarize:

  • They need to have a warranty to cover the electric motors which can damage very easily
  • They need to have a large weight capacity limit ( cheaper desks will not be able to hold a lot of weight)
  • They need to be adjustable, most people working from home might want a break at some point so they need to be able to sit down.
  • They need to be easy to assemble standing desks can be quite fiddly because of a lot of moving parts
  • The need to be priced well, it’s an unfortunate statement but with standing desks becoming more popular a lot of companies will try to price you out the market.
  • The ability to customize your worktop – a lot of standing desks tabletops are a different design to the frame. If you choose a standing desk your tabletop will likely get damaged well before you frame so you need to ensure your frame has a number of tabletops to go with it.

Why standing desks?

So why standing desks?

I mean let’s face it normal desks seem to do the job and have done so since they were invented. Why are these becoming more popular?

For anyone working from home, you know as well as I do that getting out and exercising straight after work is a struggle. The amount of times I’ve tried to go to the gym after a day of working from home and just end up sitting on the couch is unreal.

Standing desks for me at least help me keep upright and active as the day goes on. I mean I feel a lot more alert when making calls and just generally get more done.

The world of work is changing, and with more people working remotely than ever before, small things like walking around the office are becoming extinct and so we need a way to try and stay healthy whilst in the comfort of our own homes.

Luckily the SHW is here to help.
